The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has a forestry scheme to suit every farm, from small areas of 0.1 ha right up to full fields.
Whether you want native trees, water protection, agroforestry, or a productive timber crop, we will help you choose the right option and guide you through the process from start to finish.

DAFM has a scheme for you, whatever your goal

Forestry can add real value to everyday farm life and to the wider community. With strong grant support and long-term income potential, it can also deliver practical benefits on the ground, including shelter and water protection, as well as improved soil resilience, biodiversity, and natural beauty. Done well, it helps protect your land, supports the climate, and contributes to a more diverse Irish agricultural landscape with environmental, social, and economic benefits for generations.

From trees lining a driveway or farm lane, to a small native woodland, to a full commercial plantation planned for long-term value, there is a DAFM-backed option that fits.

Tell us what you want to achieve, and we will look at the site, talk you through the best route, and help you take advantage of the schemes available.
